THAT'S MY BOY is a true return to form for Adam Sandler (Big Daddy, The Wedding Singer) whose career skyrocketed post-"Saturday Night Live" with a series of 90's comedies that have become insta-classics. Unfortunately his recent family-friendly film offerings haven't fared as well, even though they've broken records... for number of Razzies - Sandler won Worst Actor AND Worst Actress for his portrayal of twins in Jack and Jill. If you've been wanting your Sandler flicks to be a little more Billy Madison and a little less Bedtime Stories, then THAT'S MY BOY is the film for you!
While still in his early teens, Donny (Sandler) fathered a son, Todd (Andy Samberg, "Saturday Night Live"), with his teacher (Eva Amurri, Saved!), and raised him as a single parent up until Todd's 18th birthday after his teacher got sent to jail for that whole statutory rape thing. Now, after not seeing each other for years, Todd's world comes crashing down on the eve of his wedding to beautiful, upper-crust Jamie (Leighton Meester, Country Strong) when an uninvited Donny suddenly shows up. Trying desperately to reconnect with his son, Donny is now forced to deal with the repercussions of his bad parenting skills.
THAT'S MY BOY also stars a veritable who's who of "Saturday Night Live" alumni (Will Forte, Rachel Dratch, and Ana Gasteyer), as well as Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise), James Caan (Misery), Milo Ventimiglia (Rocky Balboa), Tony Orlanda (A Star is Born), Nick Swardson (Just Go With), and Luenell (Borat).
