Interview: Fede Alvarez, Director of 'Evil Dead'

Back in January of last year, it was announced that Sam Raimi’s cult classic horror film ‘Evil Dead’ was being remade by a first-time director from Uruguay with a script by ‘Juno’ writer Diablo Cody. Not too many people were happy about that. However, now that the film has opened in theaters everywhere, everyone seems to be singing the praises for this remake.

After premiering at Cannes Film Festival, ‘The Sapphires’ came to Philadelphia for PFF21 and received as much fanfare as it did in France. Audiences embraced the true story of four talented young Aboriginal girls, plucked from obscurity and transformed into a soulful Motown-style singing group.

Now, the film based on the hit Australian play is open for all to see at the Ritz Five and to promote it, director Wayne Blair paid our good city a visit.
