Dilcia's SXSW Experience
This year marked SXSW Film’s 20th edition and my first time attending. I was warned by many of SXSW’s chaotic nature because Austin converts into a hub of thousands of people in search of the latest innovations in music, technology, and of course film. The weather was nice, the food was awesome, and the lines were surprisingly easy to master – only requires a little bit of discipline to wake up early and obtain a Festival Exxpress pass for entrance priority.
A new Food Network produced documentary, HUNGER HITS HOME, narrated by Oscar®-winning actor and longtime anti-hunger activist Jeff Bridges focuses on the devastating hidden crisis of childhood hunger in America. The film is part of an ongoing partnership between Food Network and Share our Strength, whose No Kid Hungry initiative aims to eradicate child hunger in America by 2015 by surrounding children with nutritious food where they live, learn and play. The 2nd Annual Philadelphia Film + Music Festival took place this past weekend (Sept 22-25, 2011) in our own backyard. In fact, all the films for the event were shown mere feet from our office doors, as PFS shares space with Invincible Pictures in the Philadelphia Sound Stages.
