Fans came out in droves to see the 10 year anniversary screening of M. Night Shyamalan's 'Signs' at the Prince Music Theater tonight, then stayed for a lively Q&A with the director hosted by Steve Morrison of WMMR's Preston & Steve morning show.

If you missed out on ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, the opening film of the 21st Philadelphia Film Festival from director David O. If you’ve been hearing from badge holders about how awesome the new Festival VIP Lounge is on the 2nd floor of 110 Chestnut Street, you now have your chance to check it out first hand. You, my friends, are now allowed into the lounge before or after screenings tomorrow (Thursday, October 25th) as long as you can talk your friends with badges to bring you along with them. It’s like “Bring Your Kid To Work Day”, except with more booze.

Scream On The Green: Celebrate Halloween With Outdoor Screenings At PFF21!

All Hallows’ Eve is fast approaching and the Philadelphia Film Festival is ready to help you get in the witching mood. When the sun goes down on Friday night, PFF21 is bringing some scary stuff to Shoemaker Green on UPenn’s campus, as they’ll be screening a double feature of ‘The American Scream’ and ‘Poltergeist’.

‘The American Scream’ is a haunting new documentary about New England suburbanites who build elaborate haunted houses in their backyards to petrify their friends and neighbors every Halloween.

Quartet
This movie was an excellent first directorial effort by the great Dustin Hoffman. Though there was one questionable decision, I still loved watching this movie because of the interesting characters played by a great cast, which includes the likes of the great Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, Tom Courtney, Pauline Collins, and Billy Connolly, plus some real retired musicians and singers.

WMMR’s ‘Preston & Steve’ Host Moderating ‘Signs’ 10th Anniversary

GADZOOKS! At this year’s Philadelphia Film Festival, we’re celebrating the 10-year anniversary of ‘Signs’ from Philly’s own M. Night Shyamalan. The film will be showing at the Prince Music Theater this Friday, October 26th, followed by a Q&A session with the writer/director. But that’s not all who’ll be making a special appearance at the Prince on Friday night.

Just announced earlier today, Steve Morrison of the co-host of WMMR’s morning show ‘Preston & Steve’ will be moderating the Q&A with Shyamalan! If you haven’t heard of them or their show, I assure you that they rock.

PFF21 Day 3 Quickie Reviews

Yesterday was my first full day of seeing movies at the film festival, so I thought I'd share with you what I thought of a few movies really quickly before my next full day of movies. So here now just for you are some really quick movie reviews:

The Sessions
A charming story with some great performances, although I wasn’t satisfied with the ending. It was almost a cop out to end it the way it did, but it was still an interesting and entertaining movie. Plus, I loved the small appearance by Rhea Perlman and Sacred Heart Hospital from ‘Scrubs’.

Midnight Madness at PFF21: ‘Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning 3D’

A long-standing tradition for cult classic cinema is the midnight movie. Films that are often looked at as obscure, oddball, and offbeat thrive in the environment of late night (sometimes drunken) theater going. As part of the Graveyard Shift section of this year’s film festival, we’re presenting ‘Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning 3D’ tonight at 11:59pm at the Rave in University City.

At first glance from the trailer, it looks like a mindless action movie that should’ve gone straight to DVD, but all of the buzz coming out of Fantastic Fest is extremely positive.
