The inaugural 4-day film festival, held from April 26-29, 2012, concludes with great success! Events took place at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Theater of the Living Arts (TLA) and World Cafe Live. Approximately 2,300 tickets sold to 26 Screenings of 19 rockumentaries, musician biopics, and films that are defined by great soundtracks.
Opening Night: BIG EASY EXPRESS directed by Emmett Malloy
A throwback to the great music tours of yesteryear, this film documents the adventurous journey of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Mumford & Sons as they set out by train from Oakland to New Orleans for their 2011 “tour of dreams.”

Closing Night: UNDER AFRICAN SKIES directed by Joe Berlinger
Filmmaker and Philadelphia Film Festival alum Joe Berlinger's enthralling film chronicles Paul Simon's return to South Africa to perform a reunion concert in celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Graceland, while also revisiting the tremendous success and criticism that accompanied the initial release of this seminal album.

GIRL WALK//ALL DAY directed by Jacob Krupnick
An astounding achievement in cinema and the ultimate mashup dance party, this feature-length music video for Girl Talk’s latest album follows three incredible dancers through the streets of New York City. From Central Park to Yankee Stadium, these dancers exuberantly embrace their surroundings, turning the most mundane situations into lively public performances. The film was viewed during a dance party, featuring live performances by some of Philadelphia’s best local DJs.
ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW with Live Shadow Cast by the Transylvanian Nipple Productions
A special midnight screening of Jim Sharman’s ultimate cult classic, a musical adventure about a recently engaged couple that stumble into a bizarre world of sex, experiments and rock and roll when their car breaks down near a mysterious mansion.
